I love the location of the Maui Westin right in the middle of all the action, but we will be staying at the Grand Wailea for their great water slides and large, clean rooms or the Honua Kai for the beautiful rooms and gourmet kitchens that make cooking just as easy as when we’re at home. Plus, every night we like to venture out to Lahaina so the drive from Honua Kai is not that different than the Westin Maui.

Starwood needs to spend more money making the rooms clean, up to date and comfortable if they’re going to charge comparable prices.

We talked about your step-father’s passing a bit the other week. We didn’t have a chance to tell you that we faced something very similar about a year ago – a relative with cancer, a rushed trip home and down to Portland, time in hospice, death.
