My love affair with luxury hotel style

Don’t you just love discovering a new, beautiful luxury hotel? Both as a consumer and as a travel blogger, I’ve been blessed with some truly unique travel experiences over the years and stayed in some pretty *suite* hotels. I never get tired of searching, booking and checking in to a new hotel. Before each hotel stay experience I get the same surge of excitement. I obsess over hotel photos, peruse booking websites and ask my friends on social media for boutique luxury hotel recommendations. Once I get to the hotel, I’m like a kid in a candy shop as I walk through the lobby to the front desk to check in and I get that little envelope with my key card. I take in the beauty of the lobby and snap photos of light fixtures, art, and swanky hotel furniture. I’m obsessed. As I make my way through the art-filled hallways to my room, my heartbeat quickens as I approach the hotel room door. This is it. The moment of truth to see if all my research has paid off. With a click of the key, my room door is open and I push through to discover my “home away from home” for even just a night. It never gets old.

Luxury hotel curation

What if this was the view waiting for you inside your room?

Finding that special luxury hotel starts with curation. With so many hotels from which to choose, how do you find the perfect luxury hotel that fits your style and budget? While some people prefer the opulence of a large, five-star hotel chain, I love discovering the smaller, boutique hotels oozing with character and style. This is one reason I love the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection. It is a curated collection of some of the world’s most intriguing and prestigious luxury properties, such as these three unique luxury boutique hotels in the Maldives, New York and San Paulo. Visa Signature’s hand-selected portfolio, developed for Visa Signature cardholders, is reviewed regularly and all the properties provide a premium collection of benefits. These benefits include best available rate guarantee, automatic room upgrade upon arrival (when available), VIP guest status, and more – all specially designed to offer an epic hotel experience.

VIP perks and concierge service

Most of my travel experiences start with researching hotels. My motto for travel has always been “save on airfare, splurge on the hotel.” Why? Besides my love affair with stylish hotel rooms, splurging on a luxury hotel comes with many added amenities and benefits that add up, especially when traveling with a family. Some luxury hotels offer free breakfast, while others have VIP perks such as room upgrades and special guest services. Luxury hotel concierges also provide access to VIP benefits such as reservations at popular restaurants, or to arrange a special local experience. One of the things I learned on my trip to Vegas with Visa Signature was how I can use my Visa Signature card to amplify these perks at my favorite luxury hotels. Think of it as an extra shot in your morning hotel espresso.

When you book at hotel through The Visa Signature Collection, you also get the added benefits of complimentary personal assistance for your trip and personalized information and referrals to travel, dining, and entertainment 24/7 including:

  • Travel Coordination – Domestic and International planning for air travel, lodging, recreation, and ground transportation, including dining reservations, entertainment, and sports performance event tickets and reservations.
  • Personal Concierge Services – such as gift ideas and flower delivery

What are your favorite added perks of staying in a luxury hotel?
