Hip Getaway: Westin Los Cabos Resort and Spa Review

Places to go

31 Jul

Last month, my husband and I celebrated a big milestone: 20 years since our very first date. It’s an annual day that we celebrate with as much joy as our wedding anniversary (going on 14 years), as it was the day we knew we had found “the one.” Because we met young, we navigated a move to Seattle, college, and six years to get married and then another six to start our family. All the while, meeting great friends along the way and sharing a love for life and travel. One of our first big trips together in college was a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and so we were excited to be able to return to Los Cabos (this time at a slower pace and away from the hustle and bustle of the party scene in downtown Cabo), to celebrate our love, reconnect and recharge. The setting for our couples getaway was the gorgeous Westin Los Cabos Resort and Spa, in San Jose del Cabo.

Just the Two of Us

If you read this blog often, you know that we bring our kids everywhere with us. So this was a big treat to board the plane with just a carry on, our Kindles and a cup of coffee on a very early morning flight to Cabo. We spent three nights in a parental “time-out.” Take a look at a video recap of our stay!

The Westin Los Cabos Resort and Spa

From the moment we arrived, the staff at the Westin Los Cabos were extremely gracious. They put us up in a spectacular room, overlooking the ocean and we spent most of our time on property, as there was no reason to go anywhere else. The resort is set just off of the main highway and about a 30 min taxi ride to downtown Cabo San Lucas. To be honest, we took a taxi into town one night for dinner and had a better dinner at the Westin the night before. Meals are easy here, and if you book a concierge level room, you get access to the Royal Beach Club for complimentary breakfast and happy hour drinks and appetizers in the evening.

Golfers Paradise

We didn’t have time to golf this trip, but if you love to golf, this hotel has it all. A 9-hole Seaside Putting Challenge right on the beach at the Westin, and six world-class golf courses nearby, including the world-famous Palmilla Golf club, just 3 minutes from the hotel and the Jack Nicklaus Signature Design Ocean Course that is ranked one of the “Top 100 Courses of the World” by Golf Magazine.

The Love Your Family Package and Family Amenities

For those of you looking to make this a family affair, The Westin Los Cabos offers the Starwood Hotels LoveYourFamily package, which includes a complimentary suite upgrade, or adjoining room, daily $50 resort credit and an optional SPG Kids Pass program, where at this hotel, you can get all of your kids’ meals for only $16 per child per day with www.spg.com/kidspass Book online, or call 866-716-8147, and reference promotion code FAM50 to make your reservation.

The Westin Los Cabos also offers an all-inclusive Mexico package, free breakfast and a lot of other great packages to meet your family’s style and budget.

Kids will love the family pool, Westin Kids Club for kids ages 4-12, and parents can use the on-site babysitting services for a dinner out at one of the property’s several great restaurants.

Rates for stays this summer and fall start at $179/night for a deluxe room, with many suites and packages to choose from to find the best value. Alaska Airlines is also offering their Low Fare Fiesta airfare sale from many West Coast cities. Fares start at around $400/per person round-trip to Cabo.

All in all, we had a great stay and we will most certainly be back with our kiddos!

Disclosure: I was a hosted guest of the Westin Los Cabos Resort and Spa. I was not required to write about our stay and the opinions I share here are my own based on our experience at the hotel.
