Passports with Purpose 2012: Help Us Bring Clean Water to Families in Haiti

Travel Tips

We love to travel, but giving back is so much sweeter – it just feels SO good. Whether we’ve adopted a family for Christmas, collected food for the local food bank, or donated to a big organization for a world cause, giving back is such a simple act that can make a big difference in people’s lives and something as a family we are extremely passionate about. I’m thrilled again this year to offer my passion for travel to support Passports with Purpose, the annual travel bloggers fundraiser, in their effort to raise $100,000 for Water.org to build 5 wells in 2 different communities in Haiti.

Why Water.org? In this country, we don’t give much thought to turning on the facet and having instant clean water. But did you know that more than three times more people lack water than live in the United States? Organizations like Water.org, co-founded by Matt Damon and Gary White, are working to help the people of Haiti and other communities around the world rebuild and get permanent access to safe drinking water. Passports with Purpose’s goal is to build five wells, as part of Water.org’s 18-month program to build 20 wells, benefiting 20 communities. Here’s more on Water.org from Matt Damon and Gary White:

And here’s where you come in. Support Passports with Purpose and Water.org by bidding on a prize for a one night stay at the newly renovated Hotel Monaco Seattle, a downtown Seattle, luxury boutique hotel (all taxes included) and a delicious dinner for two at Sazerac Restaurant (tip not included). Savor some sweet family memories (or a couples getaway just the two of you), and give another family in need clean water.

How Passports with Purpose works:

1. Go to the Passports With Purpose donation page between today and December 11, 2012 to bid on this luxurious Hotel Monaco Seattle stay package, or other fun travel prizes.

2. Each bid is just $10 and gets you one chance to score the travel prize of your choice. You can also split your donations of $10 across multiple prizes for a chance to win several different trips and experiences. Here’s the full list of incredible travel prizes my fellow travel bloggers have procured this year for Passports with Purpose!

3. Hint: You can even make the donations in honor of someone else and give the gift of travel this season!

Want to know why Expedia and other brands and organizations chose to support Passports with Purpose this year? Read this. Join some of my favorite travel bloggers and friends to help us do good this holiday season and give the gift water to those in need and the gift of travel to yourself! It feels good to give!

The Fine print: Prize Exemptions, Conditions and Expiration Date: Tip is not included in the dinner for two at Sazerac Restaurant. Blackout dates may apply, please contact VIP reservations (as listed on the certificate) to book this reservation.
