Q13FOX | Pinterest Travel Planning | How to and inspiration

Travel Tips

30 Apr

Moms! Do you love to pin? I spend a considerable amount of my day on social media. Both to connect with Hip Travel Mama audiences and for clients. While I love staying connected with friends and followers on Facebook, Twitter and sharing photos through Instagram, do you want to know what tool I personally use to unplug and relax? Pinterest! I’m a visual learner and have always been a big believer in dream boards in the offline world. Until recently, I’ve not done much Pinterest travel planning and have tried to tame my Pinterest addiction because I can spend many hours pinning everything from mid-century modern furniture to overwater bungalows in Bora Bora. But today, I’m unleashing my Pinterest wanderlust. Watch out because Hip Travel Mama just went pin crazy! Check out the video above for my latest Q13FOX segment on how to set up your own travel boards. hip travel mama on pinterest

I’m no Pinterest expert, but I’ve definitely been digging in and reading and learning as much as I can and getting creative with my boards. Pinterest does a great job of enabling me to aggregate all of my blog posts, photos in social media and videos into one place. So next time my friends ask me, “We are planning a trip to Hawaii, where should we go?” I can send them to my Hawaii place board to get a visual map of all of my favorite recommendations on places to stay, plus links to places to eat and advice from experts and families I trust. I’ve also been perusing the best pinners, talking to my friends that are experts and learning a lot. Like from my friend Erin Wing with Home Literacy Blueprint, a teacher and mom with 1.4 million followers on Pinterest. Say what?! Had no idea. We’ve create a board together called See the World to inspire travel in your kids. I hope you will check out my other boards and tell me what you think!

I’m pretty impressed with how easy Pinterest has made organizing travel inspiration recently including the new Place Pins (launched in November), Pinterest for Business tools and this week launched the new guided search on mobile. I’ve been testing it out and it’s pretty slick (video to right).

This powerful tool now has more than 30 billion pins and is rapidly becoming the new darling of social media. I love that Pinterest users are passionate about pinning their travel inspiration and am thrilled to spend more time pinning with you. I’ve recently cleaned up my boards, and added several new destination Place boards to test out the new place pin features. Will you check out my boards on Pinterest and let me know what you’d like to see me add more of there? In the meantime, here are three featured Pinterest boards I’ve put together to aggregate info on my favorite destinations and ideas to inspire travel with your kids! Happy pinning!
