I’m dreaming of a San Diego beach getaway. Where the sand is soft between my toes, the ocean breeze is warm and the sun on my face greets me like an old friend. It’s now fall here in Seattle. The leaves are bright shades of yellow, red and orange. I love this time of year in the Northwest, but find myself anticipating the long dark winter ahead, longing to book a trip back to L’Auberge Del Mar in San Diego, California.
L’Auberge Del Mar is recognized by Travel & Leisure Magazine’s World’s Best Resorts and is conveniently located in the heart of the San Diego community of Del Mar, a stone’s throw from great restaurants, shopping, and a short walk to the gorgeous Del Mar beach. This two mile stretch of sandy beach is a great place to relax, walk, or head out for long runs. We did all of the above. L’Auberge offers complimentary beach valet, beach chairs and umbrellas for guests staying at the hotel.
Looking to book a fun beach getaway to San Diego? With kids or without works great here (and furry friends are also seen all over the hotel). Here are our tips from our trip to consider when you book:
- Splurge on a view room for an epic ocean sunset view. With just 121 deluxe guest rooms, including seven luxury suites, L’Auberge Del Mar feels intimate and relaxed.
- Dine in at Coastline or KITCHEN 1540. We loved our dinner at Coastline. Lots of great seafood impeccably prepared, but in a casual atmosphere outside overlooking the ocean view and pool. KITCHEN 1540 has won numerous awards, and has a “pop-up” restaurant on their patio from Wed-Sunday that looks divine.
- Use the Beach Valet. This was one of our favorite amenities. Just simply grab your suit and sunnies. The beach valet has chairs, umbrellas, towels and sand toys ready and will load you up in the golf cart and whisk you down for pick up and drop off at your chosen Del Mar beach location.
- The lobby has live music nightly, so be sure to grab a cocktail and sink into one of the cozy couches in the lobby
Always check for current special offers before you book!
Disclosure: We were hosted guests of the L’Auberge Del Mar and received a reduced media rate for accommodations for review purposes. As always, opinions here are our own.
