Hip Hotel: Fairmont Waterfront is the Bees Knees

Hotels we love

27 Jul

I had the pleasure of staying at the Fairmont Waterfront during my last trip to Vancouver, BC for the Travel Blog Exchange Conference. While this was a quick trip, this Vancouver BC luxury hotel is a wonderful place and I look forward to returning with my family.

The Fairmont Waterfront has beautiful views of downtown Vancouver and the waterfront and is convenient walking distance to shopping and exploring downtown Vancouver with kids. What I liked most about the Fairmont, beyond its gracious staff, is the rooftop herb garden and bee apiary. The Fairmont Waterfront’s annual Honey Harvest brought in over 600 pounds of honey from our nearly 500,000 resident honeybees. The harvest inspired the creation of the hotel’s honey truffles, the “Bee’s Knees.” The truffles, created in partnership with British Columbia’s legendary chocolatier, Rogers’ Chocolates, are offered in milk and dark chocolate and feature flavor notes of butterscotch, vanilla and cinnamon. I can attest to their yumminess, as I indulged in a few chocolates strategically placed in my room. I also love the Fairmont’s morning rooftop yoga and will return to give it a try!

The Fairmont Waterfront Vancouver Family Packages

“A Family Adventure Package” that includes admission to Grouse Mountain and either the Vancouver Aquarium or Science World – plus a comp in-room family movie and movie treats:

“The Family Ties Package” that offers 50% off the second room booked.

Fairmont Family Friendly Luxury Hotels in Vancouver, BC

The Fairmont has four properties in Vancouver BC, The Fairmont Waterfront, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Pacific Rim, The Fairmont Vancouver Airport.  If you are considering a last minute trip to Vancouver this summer, you can’t go wrong with a Fairmont property. The Fairmont properties are offering several family packages right now:

The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s “A Family Affair” package

August is family month at The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Families that book one room at the “rate of the day” will receive 50% off a second room. Rates for this package start from $249 (first room, 50% off second room) and also include buffet breakfast for four in Griffins Restaurant as well as 25% off any other food and beverage within the hotel.

Upon arrival, kids checking in during August will receive a bag of goodies complete with coloring book and crayons. During their stay, families can also watch one complimentary in-room movie and order up a berry “mud pie” (compliments of the Chef and delivered to their room upon request). The hotel even has a board game menu.

The hotel has a “Kids Under 5 Eat Free” program and also offers 50% off for kids 12 and under (off the restaurant’s regular menu). The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is also renowned for traditional afternoon tea service, served daily in 900 West Lounge. The hotel’s “Prince and Princess Tea” introduces youngsters to this ritual in a fun way with “Bubblegum Tea” (caffeine-free fruit tea dotted with real bubblegum pieces), finger sandwiches (PB&J included!), fresh strawberries and cream, a giant chocolate chip cookie, seasonal fruit tartlet and one of the hotel’s famous scones. In addition, for each Prince or Princess Tea ordered during August, kids will receive a cuddly Mavis stuffed toy. Prince and Princess Tea is priced at $18 per child (12 years and under).

Note: I was hosted by the Fairmont as a speaker of the Travel Blog Exchange, but was not required to write about it or express any opinions about my stay.
