HipTravelMama’s style of crystal ball: Lombok Crystal Lantern
It’s a bit late for predictions for 2011 travel trends, but none-the-less, as we start to think ahead to our mid-winter break and spring break trips with kids, I can’t help but do some homework on what experts predict for 2011 travel.
Here are some great articles to peruse at your leisure.
Love this article and insights from Cox & Kings – unlike many of the 2011 travel trends that left me thinking – that’s it? These predictions left me with a lot of great ideas to chew on for travel with kids. Of particular note:
Contemporary Cultural Travel: “2011 will see a desire for more meaningful interactions with artists, trendsetters and experts local contemporary culture.” I love that there is a movement towards celebrating the history and contemporary art and beauty of a destination.
Not Just Seeing But Learning: “Demand has increased for specialized learning experiences – everything from sushi-making in Japan to photography excursions in Argentina. People want to come away with a strong emotional connection with a destination and bring back more than just memories, but a skill they can actually use from a vacation.” Isn’t this what travel is all about? Taking every trip as an adventure, an educational opportunity for you and your family to experience a new culture, new perspective on the world together.
and finally – I love that Family Travel has it’s own seat at the table:
Experiential Family Travel –” The face of the family vacation is changing and they are extending far beyond a week-long island refuge. “There is a desire from parents to expose their children to the cultures and lifestyles of the regions that they are visiting. Travel is one of the best educational tools for children.” I firmly believe that every trip, every experience together as a family further cements that bond and helps expand your family’s perspective of what is most important in life.
Curious abut what are the most popular destinations and where the great values will be in 2011? Here are a few more of my favorite 2011 predictions. Happy Travels!
